Week one: draft

Choose one routine email, outline, or checklist. Use the same basic request three times. Record what context improves the result and which edits you repeat.

Week two: summarize

Use public or approved source material. Ask for the main point, evidence, unanswered questions, and items to verify. Compare the summary with the original.

Week three: compare options

Ask AI to organize options against criteria you choose. Do not ask it to make the decision. Notice which criteria require experience, values, or relationship knowledge.

Week four: keep one workflow

Choose the task that produced the clearest benefit. Write down the safe input, reusable request, review checklist, and condition that tells you to skip AI. A small routine you trust is better than a folder of prompts you do not use.

Practise on real work

Keep a simple learning log

Use one note with a row for each attempt.

Prompt to adapt

After each attempt, record: task, minutes spent, what AI drafted, errors found, edits required, and whether you would use AI for this task again.

Judgment checks

  • Are you measuring cleanup time as well as drafting time?
  • Which errors repeat across attempts?
  • Which single workflow deserves to stay?

Keep these points

  • Practise in short sessions on familiar work.
  • Track errors and cleanup, not only speed.
  • Keep one repeatable workflow at the end of the month.
